Siguieron toureando por aqui y por aya y a finales de ese año, sacaron un cd/video, en vivo, que Billy describe con pesima calidad y el audio jodidisimo (a proposito), llamado Vieuphoria. Y lo siguieron con un album de B-Sides llamado Pieces Iscariot.


Sacaron el tercer single de este album "Disarm", esta cancion contiene una de las letras mas poderosas que escribio Corgan (lastima de su sobre explotacion), el la describio haci, "this song is about my childhood and how I turned into an asshole." la cancion tiene tres versiones, y sacaron dos versiones del single y hay una infinidad de versiones en vivo, estas son unas de ellas.

Billy corgan y su side proyect "Starchildren", conformado por James y Jimmy de los Pumpkins, Mark Rew de Catherine y Mary Magdaline. Tuviero un par de toquines en los que tocaron basicamente covers, versiones de las canciones que aparecerian mas adelante en MC&IS y unas rolas de ellos. Sacaron un 7' inch "Songs About Girls/Delusions of Candor" en el cual venia la cancion "Delusions of Candor". El disco traia en un lado a Catherine y en el otro a Starchildren.


Como ya lo habia mencionado, los Pumpkins tocarian en Lollapalooza en julio. En principio, eran una de las bandas menores por que iva a headlainear Nirvana. Como savran, Kurt se suicido en abril de ese anio, abriendo una puerta que seria vital para Corgan y la banda, ya que serian oidos nacionalmente.
Durante este festival, Courtney Love le pidio a Billy un par de minutos de su set para demostrar que no estava loca (jajaja), y el se los concidio. Asi que ella se acerco a la banda y se volvio muy amiga de Corgan (claro esto fue despues de la muerte de Kurt).
Fueron muy mal recividos en u par de lugares incluyendo Randall's Island en New York, pero fue en Mt. View, donde realmente reaccionaron y de una forma u otra le dieron al publico algo que no se esperaba:

The Pumpkins were once again not well received and the band responded by playing "a bunch of songs you don't know" at the Mt. View show on the 28th. The set included the rarely played "Plume" and "Daydream" as well as a ten-minute jam entitled "Concerto in C Minor". James screamed the lyrics of "Fantastic Voyage" from Coolio and the song also featured the snippet "Die" from the "Zero" b-side, "Pastachio Medley".

Spin Magazine nombro a los Pumpkins "Artist of the Year".
